GUIDE RIGHT
Grades 6th - 8th​
The national service program of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. is called Guide Right. From its inception in 1922, the mission of the Guide Right program is to provide guidance in assisting middle school students to choose meaningful careers consistent with the theme of achievement. The program has evolved to include scholarships to underserved and talented students, and to inform, advise and counsel young people in the professions and career options before their senior year in high school.

Guide Right provides both inspiration and counsel to its participants providing direction and advice in the selections of career path and arousing the interest of the entire community in the problems of youth as they seek to realize productive futures. The Guide Right program encompasses scholarship opportunities, a tutorial program and the Kappa Leadership Development League.

The goals and objectives of the Guide Right program are summarized as follows:

To help male youth, especially those of high school age, in their selection of courses leading to vocations compatible with their aptitudes, interests, and personalities

To assist students, while they are training, to get started in employment and to progress successfully in their chosen fields.

To assist parents in the management of their children by giving them opportunities to talk over their problems with those who know and are successful in their chosen vocations.

To provide unique opportunities for less fortunate youths to experience a respite from the drudgery of the streets, through sponsored entertainment and cultural enrichment.

To inform youth of the values of higher education, of assistance available for continued educational pursuits, scholarships, loans, professional counseling, fellowships and to explore various occupational and professional opportunities
KAPPA LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE
Grades 9th - 12th​

Kappa League was founded on Thursday, February 12, 1969, by the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., at Alain LeRoy Locke High School. Kappa League was adopted by the Grand Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. at the 56th Grand Chapter which was held August 12-15, 1970. The founders of the Kappa Instructional Leadership League were Mel L. Davis an Elder Watson Diggs Awardee and Edgar H. Bishop. Under the chairmanship of Mel Davis, the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter’s Social Action Program took the form of training activity for young men of the Alain Leroy
Locke High School. Called the Kappa Instructional Leadership League, it was designed to help young men grow, receive, and develop their leadership talents in every phase of human endeavor. It provided both challenging and rewarding experiences, which richly enhanced their lives. Membership was open to male students from the tenth through the twelfth grades.
The nucleus and primary focus of the Kappa League revolves around the seven phases with four major initiaties :
Phase I – Self Identity and Purpose
Phase II – Training
Phase III – Competition
Phase IV – Social
Phase V – Health Education
Phase VI - Economic Empowerment & Education
Phase VII - College & Career

Four Major Initiatives:
College Prep : The National Kappa League program provides educational college readiness opportunities for it's students . The program utilizes the following tools and activities to foster college matriculation and academic success.

College Success : The mentoring doesn't necessarily end when students venture on to college. The National Kappa League program promotes local interaction with former students and national mentoring for former Kappa leaguers and Undergrad Brothers
​
Social Action / Community Service : Kappa League members work together to meet their community service obligations in an effort to learn responsible citizenship. Some of the national initiatives Kappa League participate in include National Voter Registration Day, Room 2 Read, and Community Service.

Positive Vision : Through club oriented activities, the officers and membership of the Kappa League perform projects that will expose them to planning, execution, reporting ideas, and simulating good leadership characteristics designed to raise their aspiration levels.
